After all of the planning that we covered in part one of this series, it was great for us to actually get to the timber harvesting stage and see some work start to happen on our property. This was the first time we saw heavy equipment roll over our newly installed culverts, and it was an awesome feeling. We want to spend a few minutes to tell you a little more about how we went about having the timber harvested…
When we purchased our property it was a completely wooded tract, mostly covered in 30+ year old planted loblolly pines. Out of the 19.208 acres, approximately 11 acres was in pine plantation. The remainder of the property included a beautiful live oak hammock, a small pond, a creek with natural hardwoods on the eastern boundary, and a former orchard on the western side that had long since been overgrown by volunteer pines and hardwoods. All of this provided the property…
How to Prepare the Camper I started the install of our Reese Goose Box by removing our original Lippert 1621 pin box. I used my impact wrench to remove the eight mounting bolts and took the trailer breakaway switch off of it. I then used a grinder with a wire wheel to remove all of the rust from the trailer mount. Next, I used some painters tape and taped around the mount really well and spray painted it black. At…
When we first moved into our camper, we immediately noticed a problem. We were getting a terrible septic smell coming up into the camper every time we ran the bathroom vent fan. At first I thought the valve in the toilet was bad, but after some sniffing around it was pretty easy to determine that the smell was coming from the shower.…
When we sold our house we bought a used 2017 Cedar Creek 37MBH. This is a great size camper for us, and includes a rear living room, large master bedroom and a mid bunkhouse. We knew that the bunkhouse would be a great spot for the kids. It consists of a room downstairs with a loft above it. Our plan was for the loft to be their play area and we set it up with all of their toys. We…
Downsizing is hard! I went into the process fairly optimistic. I had followed several full-time RV groups on Facebook for a while and had laughed at some of the posts where people discussed spending a year preparing to downsize. I now apologize to anyone that posted on those blogs that I secretly laughed at! Looking back now, a year would have been the perfect amount of time to accomplish what we shoved into just a month! We decided to sell…
Our Previous Camper Our plan when we sold our house was to buy a tract of land and live in our camper full time for awhile as we developed the property and built on it. We knew that in order to do that, we needed to upgrade our camper. We owned a 2017 Prime Time Avenger 27DBS travel trailer. It was great for weekend camping trips and weeklong vacations, but we knew it wasn’t going to suit our needs for…
When our son, Brisen, was born 8 1/2 years ago, I spent many hours through the night in the rocking chair nursing him. I am one who has never struggled with sleep, so it was very different for me to be awake in the middle of the night. It wound up being a precious time to me, though, because the house was dark and quiet, there were no distractions, and I spent hours in prayer for my family, my home,…
We ended up getting a contract on our house so quickly that we really didn’t have a lot of time to look for property. I had envisioned a process where we would list our house and have several weeks or months to be able to find the perfect tract of land. We would surely be able to find one that suited all of our needs and I would be able to get it for a great deal. Full disclosure, I’m…
